Once you install the ReviewXpo, you can go to its settings and set up an automated review request system.

Here is the step-by-step guide to sending automated customer review emails on Shopify:

Step 1: Open the ReviewXpo dashboard on your Shopify store
First, log in to your Shopify account. Then select ReviewXpo under the App section at the bottom of the left menu.

(Hope you have ReviewXpo already installed on your store)

It will open a new ReviewXpo Menu and the dashboard to set up various automation functions.

Step 2: Go to the Email content

From the new ReviewXpo menu, select Emails to open two options. Select Email Content under the Email section.

A new page will open on the dashboard with email content settings.

Step 3: Set up the first review request
From the Email content page, select First Review Request. It sends emails for the first time to customers after they make a purchase.

Now modify the settings in the following way to set up the automation process:

  • Email Banner: You can set up an email banner in this option. This is a great opportunity for promoting your brand.

    Although the app has a default banner, we recommend you make your own with your brand logo. Try to put some promotional offers on it so that your customers repurchase from you.
  • Email Subject: The email subject is crucial to whether your customer will open the mail or not. Try to write something attractive like:

    - Your Opinion Matters: Review and Enjoy Exclusive Benefits!

    - Exclusive Offer Inside: Leave a Review for a Special Treat!

However, you also can go with the default subject, i.e.: How was your shopping experience? We appreciate your feedback.

  • Email Content: You should tailor all the emails for each and every individual customer. It enhances the chance of getting reviews.

    There is a default email content that you can use or pick up from the following examples:

    I. Dear [Customer Name],

    We hope this message finds you well! At [Your Store Name], we are always striving to provide the best possible experience for our valued customers, and we'd love to hear about your recent purchase.

    Your feedback means the world to us, and we believe that your insights can help shape the future of our products and services. Would you consider taking a moment to share your thoughts with us?

    II. Dear [Customer Name],

    We trust this email finds you well and are enjoying your recent purchase from [Your Store Name]. We are reaching out to you because we truly value your opinion and believe that your insights can make a significant impact.

    We understand your time is valuable, but your honest review can go a long way in helping us improve and ensure that we continue to meet your expectations.
  • Button Text (CTA): Lastly, you can set up a custom button text as CTA. In general, the default “Write a Review” text button works fine.

    The button will take the customer to the product page for leaving a review.

    The best thing about ReviewXpo is that your customers do not even need to visit your store to leave the review.

    They can reply to the email with their reviews, which will be added to your store.

After you are done with email content settings, click on save.

Step 4: Automate the customer review request email

Now, click on Review Request under the Emails section.

Then, select Reminder Settings from the review request options.

Set up the review request settings in the following way:

  • First Review Request:  You can set here the time period after which the first review request will be sent.

    Do not send it so fast that your customer does not even receive the product. Try setting it to a few days after delivery.
  • Follow-Up Review Request: Often, the first email gets ignored, and ReviewXpo allows you to send a follow-up mail for a review request.

  • Request Photo/Video Review: ReviewXpo also has the option to send photo/video review requests.

    Photo & video reviews are usually more effective than text reviews. Hence, this feature can really be helpful for you.

All these three options have a separate “Save” button. Modify each setting and click on save to automate the customer review request email system.

Now, whenever someone purchases something from your Shopify store, an automated review request mail will go to their email after the time period you set.

In general, 3 to 5 days after the delivery is the best time to send automated review request emails. But depending on the industry, you may even set it to 2 to 3 weeks.

Can I customize the appearance of review request emails in ReviewXpo?
Yes! You can set the banner, customize the body, and everything else from the Email content settings.

What should I do if a customer opts out of review request emails? 
If a customer opts out of review request emails, respect the request and do not send mail again. ReviewXpo automatically removes the customer from the mailing list in such cases.

What if the customer does not respond to review request emails?
When the customer does not respond to the first review request email, then you can send a follow-up mail. But if, even after that, the customer does not reply, you better leave them alone. Sending repetitive review request emails can be bothersome.
